Your pelvic health is part of your whole body.
Pelvic health concerns can affect how you move, breathe, work and live. At Reflective PT, I take a whole-body approach to understanding what is happening and creating care that feels comfortable, respectful and individualized to you.
Pelvic health can be personal. Your care should feel comfortable.
Talking about pelvic health concerns isn’t always easy. My goal is to create a private, respectful environment where you can ask questions, understand what’s happening and feel comfortable throughout your care.
Your treatment is always individualized and based on your concerns, your goals and what feels appropriate for you.
You don’t have to simply live with it.
Pelvic health physiotherapy may be helpful for a wide range of concerns affecting the bladder, bowel, pelvic floor, abdomen and pelvis.
BLADDER & BOWEL
Urinary leakage, urgency, frequency, difficulty emptying, bowel concerns and other changes in bladder or bowel function.
PELVIC PAIN
Pelvic, abdominal, genital or rectal pain, as well as pain associated with movement or sexual activity.
PREGNANCY & POSTPARTUM
Support during pregnancy and after birth, including pelvic floor concerns, abdominal changes, scar tissue and returning to comfortable movement.
PELVIC ORGAN PROLAPSE
A feeling of pressure, heaviness or bulging, or concerns related to pelvic organ support.
ABDOMINAL & PELVIC CHANGES
Diastasis, abdominal or pelvic changes following pregnancy, surgery or injury, including concerns related to scar tissue.
PELVIC FLOOR FUNCTION
Concerns related to pelvic floor strength, coordination, relaxation, pressure management and how the pelvic floor works with the rest of your body.
Understanding comes first.
Your first appointment begins with a conversation about your concerns, your history and what you’d like to accomplish. We’ll then discuss an assessment that is appropriate for you.
Depending on your concerns, a pelvic health assessment may include an examination of your posture, breathing, movement, abdominal and pelvic function. An internal pelvic examination may be discussed when appropriate, but it is not automatically required.
Treatment that considers the whole picture.
MANUAL THERAPY
Individualized hands-on treatment, including soft tissue and myofascial techniques, joint mobilization and scar mobilization when appropriate.
MOVEMENT & EXERCISE
Exercises and movement strategies designed around your body, your goals and what you want to be able to do.
BREATHING & NERVOUS SYSTEM
Breathing, relaxation and nervous system strategies to help you develop better awareness and coordination.
ACUPUNCTURE & OTHER TECHNIQUES
Acupuncture, electro-acupuncture and other physiotherapy techniques may be incorporated when appropriate for your individual needs.
You don’t have to know exactly what’s wrong before you reach out.
If something feels different, uncomfortable or difficult to explain, we can start with a conversation and work from there.
Ready to take the next step?
If you’d like to talk about your concerns or find out whether pelvic health physiotherapy may be right for you, I’d be happy to help.
